Dad, Will You Walk me Down the Isle?

A Special Story About a DNA2Diamond...

My father passed away in January of 2008. That day and the days, months and years that followed, I knew I lost a lot of things. I lost the man who taught me the importance of hard work. The right way to paint a house. The best way to tell a joke. I also lost the one person who was so much like me and understood me that it pains me to think I'll never be able to share a special moment with him again. What I would give to just be able to tell him about a great accomplishment or to just share a funny story.

When I think about the things that my Dad has missed in my life over the past few years it brings tears to my eyes. I bought a foreclosed home, gutted it and totally remodeled it with my boyfriend. Everyday at the new house I'd remark how wonderful it would be if Dad could see the new floors going in, how the kitchen was coming together, or even at the garden I planted. Somehow, I hope that he can see it and that he is watching over me.

Having recently become engaged, I am thankful that my Dad was able to meet my boyfriend before he passed away. I think it was important for my Dad to know that I would be ok. He'd want to know that, although I think I don't need it, I would have someone to take care of me. I guess that's just how Dad's are. So, in the last few months of my father's life, my boyfriend got to know my Dad and I could tell, my Dad liked him.

After our engagement, I was thrilled that I finally found the one man who embodied many of the qualities I loved about my father. My fiancé can build and fix anything. He is a hard worker and he loves me. What is better than that? But, even in all of my happiness of our engagement, one thing lingers in my mind. My Dad won't be there to walk me down the isle.

For weeks I would think about my wedding day and wonder how something so great could bring me such pain knowing Dad wouldn't be there. But then I discovered a company in Pennsylvania called DNA2Diamonds. I am so thankful that I did.

DNA2Diamonds can create a genuine diamond from either a lock of hair or cremated ashes. At first my finance and I thought it would be wonderful to combine a lock of his hair and a lock of my hair to make our diamond. But, then he came up with the best and most wonderful idea. He suggested to create my diamond for my engagement ring from my Dad's ashes. Knowing how important it would have been to have my Dad with me not only on my special day, but with me every day, my fiancé's wonderful suggestion really touched me. Once my diamond is complete, it will be set in my engagement ring so my Dad can still walk with me down the aisle.

Although my Dad won't be there in person, he will be there in spirit and will be right there with me forever in my diamond engagement ring. My ring will be the most precious and priceless possession I own. It will forever represent the bond my fiancé and I have in life and the connection I have with my Dad, even after he's gone.

Having a part of the man who gave me life in the symbol of the love from the man who is now the most important one in my life.

What are Created Diamonds?

Created diamonds are genuine diamonds created in a lab setting instead of mined from the earth.

Created diamonds, also called man made diamonds, lab diamonds, laboratory grown diamonds, or cultured diamonds, are genuine diamonds. They have the same chemical, physical and optical qualities of natural gemstones, except that they are made by man, in a laboratory. These created jewels are virtually indistinguishable from natural ones.

Created diamonds are grown in a laboratory setting using intense pressure and heat and a small real diamond ‘seed’. The seed is to provide the molecular structure building block for the sheets of carbon placed over the seed to duplicate. This process mimics the natural heat and pressure that forms natural diamonds, only in a laboratory using 60,000 atmospheres of pressure at over 2,300 Celsius until the material crystallizes.

Because these diamonds are created in a controlled environment, it is possible to create a near perfect diamond every time. Additionally, the cost for these cultured diamonds is approximately two-thirds less than a natural mined one, but the quality is usually superior. Man made diamonds are becoming more popular not only due to price factors but also because they are the most eco-friendly option.

Diamond mining isn’t exactly eco-friendly, and its not something that many think about when purchasing jewelry. However, it is a known fact that diamond mining has devastating impact on flora and fauna and the Earth's climate upon the whole. Man made diamonds are created to avoid this harmful impact on the ecosystem. With a created diamond you will get everything you expect from naturally-occurring diamond: durability, longevity, and of course incredible shine and luster.

Thanks to the marvels of modern science and cutting edge technology, now many can afford to buy stunning created diamonds in breath-taking colors of blue, red, cognac, and yellow-green. Created diamond owners can be rest assured that they are making a eco-friendly purchase as well.

DNA2Diamonds created diamonds are available in various cuts and colors of stunning red, brilliant yellow-green, warm cognac and dazzling blue. These stunning colored diamonds are available in sizes ranging from 0.25 carats to 2.0 carats, and can be set into a variety of different settings.

The Mystery and Science Behind Personal Created Diamonds

It’s an amazing and indeed an interesting process to learn how the simple structure of a carbon atom can be metamorphosed into a beautiful, genuine diamond. What's more fascinating is how you can use the carbon signature from a lock of hair or small amount of cremated ashes and create a stunning lab created diamond!

These personal man made diamonds can be created to be set into cremation jewelry to memorialize a loved one or pet or as a commemorative diamond to celebrate an anniversary, engagement, birth of a child or other special occasion.

Created diamonds are genuine, certified diamonds that are created in a laboratory within a matter of weeks by replicating the extreme temperature and pressure that occur over millions of years deep under the earth’s crust. These lab diamonds possess the identical chemical, optical, and physical properties of earth-mined diamonds.

Personal created diamonds are in essence, enhanced lab diamonds, because they include a personal carbon source to grow the diamond, a lock of hair or small amount of cremated ashes. To create a personal created diamond, the process begins by collecting the hair or the cremated remains. The carbon signature from the hair or ashes is then added to a real diamond seed, and the mixture is placed in a custom-designed incubator.

The incubator uses a unique and complex High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) process to duplicate the earth’s natural diamond-growing conditions. Temperatures exceed 2000°C and pressure is greater than 60,000 atmospheres.

In 70 days or less, the growth phase is completed and a genuine diamond in-the-rough results. A master gem cutter will cut and polish the diamond in accordance with industry standards.

The created diamond then be individually identified with a laser-engraved ID number on the girdle of the diamond which is visible only under x20 magnification. The personal, man made diamond is then independently authenticated, inspected, measured and graded. The created diamond is then set into the jewelry chosen by the customer and delivered complete with the original certification and Certificate of Authenticity.

Turning ashes to diamonds, or hair to diamonds, DNA2Diamonds are unlike any other type of lab diamonds. These personal created diamonds are as individual and as unique as the lives they mirror and can be created in various colors, cuts, sizes and set into an unlimited number of jewelry settings. The Difference Between Created Diamonds and Earth Mined

There are several key differences between man made diamonds and earth mined gems. To discover which option is eco-friendly and less expensive, read this article now!

The primary differences between created diamonds and natural diamonds are price and environmental impact. While lab diamonds are identical to earth mined diamonds; same timeless beauty, fire, brilliance, unique colors, hardness and quality; purchasing a created diamond can be easy on the wallet and the environment.

The stress on the eco-systems from earth mining diamonds is pretty harsh and diamond mining in reality is an expensive and a dangerous process. These factors are reflected in the price tag of the earth mined stones.

The biggest benefit of the created diamond lies in this price factor differential. A lab created diamond is usually less expensive compared to a mined colored diamond. In fact, a one carat earth-mined diamond can cost thousands of dollars while a created diamond of the same size and weight can be found at a fraction of the cost.

What's also interesting is that it would take a certified jeweler to detect that these lab diamonds have not been harvested from the earth. Even then, the experts find it difficult to detect because created diamonds are identical gemologically. What this means is that the created diamonds are certified to be chemically and optically identical to their earth mined counterparts.

In addition to being able to obtain a created diamond for a fraction of the price, the creation of a lab diamond does not harm humans, animals, or the precious environment. Another great advantage of created diamonds is that they can be cut even more proportionally, as compared to the mined gems. Only ten to fifteen percent of natural diamonds achieve the ideal cutting proportion whereas man made diamonds can almost always be cut proportionally.

Earth mined diamonds are also hard to find without a flaw. The more flaws the lower the price and the less desirable to the human eye. It is quite common to find mined diamonds with defects and inclusions. While many diamonds can be cut to can disguise some of the flaws, some are too apparent to hide. On the other hand, lab diamonds are nearly flawless to completely flawless due to the precise processing and the ability to control the growth of the diamonds in a laboratory setting.

Thanks to the marvels of modern science and cutting edge technology, now you can afford to buy flawless, man made diamonds at a fraction of the price and do so confidently knowing your purchase will be eco-friendly.
